4th of July
What better way to celebrate the 4th of July then with lots of burritos? No seriously, a ton of burritos.
Coralville, Iowa is home to the annual Panchero’s burrito eating contest on the 4th of July. Once again, this event proved to be a spectacle very worthy of viewing. 15 contestants step up to the line with a common goal of devouring three enormous Panchero’s burritos. The rules are simple, the first person to successfully take down (and keep down) all three burritos is the winner. This year our winner took home a years worth of free burritos, second place was awarded 6 months of free burritos and third place walked away with three months of burritos! This year, the winner was an Iowa City native named Jose Gomez with a time of 7:15. Matt Kelsay from Iowa City rocked second place with a time of 8:30 and Brandon Hyde of Fairfield took home bronze with a time of 10:30.
Keep practicing and maybe one day, you too could take down three burritos in just over seven minutes…. until then, enjoy the photos!
Panchero’s also had a part in the Coralville parade! Hummers were rollin’ in full force on the 4th throwing out frisbees (some even had free burrito cards taped to them!)
We had a ton of fun being apart of the Coralville 4th of July celebration and want to thank everyone who came out to help make it awesome!
