I hinted a few weeks ago about a new store in Madison, WI opening. Well the time has come and the new store is open and ready to dish you up some fresh burritos! If you haven’t already given it a look, now is the time.

You heard correct, Bloomington, MN is hosting it’s very own $1 burrito night! Head to the store on Tuesday the 12th and from 4-6pm you can snag a fully loaded burrito for only one dollar! The line may get long, but we always have prizes, giveaways and Panchero’s trivia to help the time fly by. Plus, once you get that delicious burrito in your hands for only $1 you know it was alllll worth it.

Well folks, the first official Iowa City vs. Ames $1 burrito bowl has come and gone!

As a welcome back celebration for students, Panchero’s holds an annual event in the fall at participating locations and offers burritos for only $1! This last week, bitter rivals Iowa and ISU were pitted against each other  in an attempt to see which school would bring home the coveted title of $1 burrito champions!

Our downtown Iowa City event was accompanied by Z102.9 during their $1 burrito extravaganza. Radio DJ Chris Jackson was live on the scene with the Z truck thumping out some great music and keeping everyone in line entertained. On the Ames side, we had Kiss 107 present to kick out the jams and help make the $1 burrito event a true success.

At the end of the day though, only one location could walk away with the title of Burrito Bowl Champions. Ames fought hard and picked up an early lead and a huge line, but they were no match for the hungry, hungry Iowa City students who managed to scarf down 1344 burritos in just over two hours! Ames wasn’t far behind though, racking up an impressive 988 burritos. You win this year, Iowa City, enjoy that cushy title while it lasts…. Ames will continue to plot revenge for next years $1 Burrito Bowl!

And it just so happens that Iowa City and Ames $1 burrito event fall on the same day. Seems like there is already talk of a little competition going on. Which Iowa-based university is burrito-hungry enough to be the big dog this year and stuff their faces with the most burritos!?

There you have it, the official list of $1 burritos happening this year! Be sure to show up a little early, there is usually a hefty line. Plus, t-shirts and other swag will be all over the place, but supplies are limited, so showing up early will guarantee you some Panchero’s apparel!

Madison, WI may only be a few weeks old, but we had plenty of people turn out to claim their $1 burritos to celebrate the grand opening of the store!

Don’t take my word for it, though, check out some of these photos! Word on the street was the line took almost an hour to get through. But no worries, we had DJ Tyler Kruze from Z104 pumpin music through the parking lot to keep things interesting.

We had a great time throwing this little party for you guys, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

This last week may have been one of the best weeks of your life if you were in the Madison, WI or Westchester, Ill area.

One of our burrito hummers was on a bit of a road trip and decided to stop off at both locations and hand out some FREE burritos. Needless to say, there were some happy people.

The Madison, WI store opens on Monday, April 12th and will also have a $1 burrito special going on Tuesday, April 20th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

April is a busy month for Panchero’s as we welcome two new stores to our ever-growing fleet!

Madison, WI and Fargo, ND will both be welcoming a new Panchero’s to their neighborhood in April.

Fargo, ND will beat Madison by about a week, though. Fargo will be offering fresh pressed, Bob’d burritos for the first time on Tuesday, April 6th. Fargo will be North Dakota’s second Panchero’s. This location will accompany our Bismarck location which has been open since July 2007! And don’t forget, with each grand opening comes the elusive $1 burrito special!

Madison, WI opens it’s doors on Monday, the 12th of April. Wisconsin is now home to three Panchero’s.
